A Crocheted Cloche

This hat pattern was from an old book I was given of knitted and crocheted hats. I must point out that I did change quite a bit about the pattern, including adding rounds and three bows.

A Scoodie Gone Awry

I asked my Mom what she wanted me to make her for Christmas. A hat? A scarf? She doesn't really like beanies, so I suggested a Scoodie (a scarf with a hoody). She liked that idea and I began to make it using one of the NUMEROUS skeins of white yarn that I have.

It turns out that Lion Brand Homespun is a bad yarn to use when making a hood. Once I had gotten pretty far along, it started to look like... Oh, please no! George Washington's hair!

I finished the hood and I couldn't even continue because all I could see was a lovely curled wig atop George Washington's head. Soooo, it's dress up clothes now.

This is my nephew, Aaron. In the first picture, he was pretty confused by what I put on his head. In the second and third pictures, he got distracted by Doctor Who and looked away.

What a Hoot!

First of all, let's just take a moment to look at the title of this post. BEST NAME EVER! ;)

My desperation and I came across this hat while web surfing for some free patterns. Isn't it the most adorable thing ever!?! So, NATURALLY, I had to make it. After some seriously fast knitting, I finished it a day after I began (on November 13, if you must know).

Arrow Eyelet Hat

On November 7th, I was about two inches into the ribbing pattern of a Lion Brand hat when I decided "Hmmm. I don't really like this pattern."
So I knitted one more inch of ribbing and then began a pattern I had written down.
I now present to you, the Arrow Eyelet Hat!

Nautical Brioche Infinity Scarf

On November 5, I finished my first infinity scarf!  It is knitted on size 11 needles, which are HUGE, by the way! The pattern itself is super easy, however, you do have to know how to knit brioche (you can go here to learn how).

A Divine Hat

Around dinner time on November 5, I decided that I was going to crochet a hat instead of knitting one.
*gasp*
So, I got on Ravelry and found this AMAZING pattern by Sarah Arnold. 14 hours later, I had completed the hat!

This pattern was really easy and I had a lot of fun making it! If you would like to make a hat like this, the pattern is FREE at: Divine Hat pattern by Sarah Arnold

How to: BPDC

Back post double crochet, written as bpdc, is almost exactly the same as front post double crochet! It is slightly harder than fpdc, but not too much.

To begin, crochet up to the point that you wish to bpdc and yarn over.

Insert your hook from the back of the work to the front.

Now, push your hook from the front to the back of the work. From the back of the work, this will be behind a double crochet stitch.

Yarn over again, and pull it behind the dc stitch.

Yarn over and pull the yarn through two loops.

Yarn over one more time and pull it through the remaining two loops.

A combination of bpdc and fpdc will look like this.

How to: FPDC

Front post double crochet, otherwise written as fpdc, is super easy to do! All it takes is a little bit of practice and you will be able to add ribbing to your crocheted projects!

To begin, crochet up to the point that you wish to make the fpdc.

Wrap your yarn around your hook.

Now, insert your hook behind the next double crochet stitch.

Yarn over, and pull your yarn behind the double crochet stitch.

Yarn over, and pull it through two loops.

Yarn over, and pull the yarn through the remaining two stitches.

After a few rows, your fpdc stitches will stick out farther than your dc stitches.

Some Cleverly Named Hat

Five days ago, I finished another hat! This one was designed by both desperation and me. I have to say, desperation did, by far, most of the work. I can't tell you who it's for, but I will show you a picture of it and you can guess!
