Miki Hat

     This hat, I made for my dad. I wanted something simple, but not boring. This hat was PERFECT for that! I decided that I would make it with some of my black yarn because I have quite a lot of it.

Ribbed Pompom Hat

     I have designed my first crocheting pattern! 

     I made it for my nephew Jonah, who should look absolutely adorable in it! The pompom just makes it look so fun and cute!

     It is 7 inches tall and about 21 inches in circumference. Basically, it is a "One Size Fits All" beanie. I used a 6 mm crochet hook and worsted weight yarn. The pompom, I made on my hand (I'm not a fan of the cardboard method).

How To: BPHDC

     Back Post Half Double Crochet is another way to add ribbing to a crocheted project. It is usually combined with FPHDC to make 1x1 ribbing.

     To begin, crochet up to the point that you wish to make the BPHDC stitch.

     Yarn over.

     

     Insert your hook from the back of your work to the front of your work, in front of the post of the next stitch.

     Now move your hook to the back of the work.

     Yarn over, and pull the yarn through the stitch.

     You will have three stitches on your hook.

     Yarn over, and pull it through the remaining stitches.

     You know how I said in my previous post about how my camera hates the color black? Well, I'm pretty sure that it hates me, too, because it wouldn't take a good picture of the 1x1 ribbing.

     *shriek of horror*

     Soooooo, I crocheted a swatch in a completely different color.

     Much better. :)

How To: FPHDC

     Front Post Half Double Crochet takes a seriously long time to say, so I'm going to use the abbreviation from now on. ;)

     FPHDC is almost exactly like FPDC, but it is slightly smaller in height.

     Before I start explaining how to make FPHDC stitches, I need to warn you: my camera HATES the color black. It simply refuses to see any stitch definition without a fight. *shrug*

     To begin, crochet up to the point that you would like to FPHDC.

     Yarn over.

     Insert your hook behind the post of the stitch on the previous row, then move your hook back to the front of your work.

     Yarn over and pull it through the stitch.

     Now yarn over, and pull the yarn through the remaining three stitches.

NA NA NA NA NA BATMAN!

     I'm going to start this post out by saying that if you didn't hear the song as you read the title, you sit on a throne of lies.
     Now that I've said that, I'm going to talk about the hat that I have made! This hat is a ridiculously easy beanie that I had WAY to much fun making.
     I'll tell you why--- I altered the pattern by using stranded knitting! *clap clap clap*
     This first picture is actually the back of the hat; I wanted everyone to see what the pattern is supposed to look like. (By the way, my camera would only see the hat as a big black blob, so I had to add more light, and that's why it looks washed out.)

     All I had to do was add a Batman insignia and BOOM! The hat looks amazing (if I do say so myself)!

Simple Slipped Stitch Hat

     I started (and finished!) this particular pattern on Thanksgiving day. Isn't it just lovely? I grabbed some random stash yarn that I have (Stash yarn NEVER ends! :P) and used up about half of it. I absolutely ADORE this hat!

      However, during the course of its creation, I broke my circular knitting needles. *cry*

A Simple Double Crochet Hat

     On November 25th, I'll admit that, hatwise, I was in a state of panic (not really, but it makes for a better story :) ). Mary and Paul had come over for an early Thanksgiving and, since they weren't going to be here for Christmas, I was going to give them their presents early.

     There was only one small problem... I hadn't even started Paul's hat, yet! 

     Thankfully, I found this beauty (which I can only say is an AMAZING hat!). It is super easy to crochet up, and I finished it the same day I started it!
