How to Double Knit

Double knitting is used to make garments twice as thick as they would be normally. This is good to know if you live in a place that gets cold; if you don't live in a cold place, this method is still useful for reinforcing purse straps!
For interest, you can use two different colors of yarn.
To begin, cast on twice the amount of  stitches required in your main color. I cast on twenty stitches, so there are ten stitches on each side.
Now, tie on your next color and hold both of those yarns in the back.

Knit the first stitch with your main color and move both of the yarns to the front.

Purl the next stitch with your other color and move your yarn strands to the back.

After a few rounds, your work will look like this.

Congratulations! You have just learned double knitting!
